Outdoor Club is a fun and effective social group for getting individuals active outside within the Pacific Northwest! Each week there will be excellent opportunities for participants to apply their curiosity and desires towards social activities that include hiking, scavenger hunts, outdoor survival workshops, life-size board games, obstacle courses and more. Learners will also be able to practice social skills such as social-emotional regulation, problem solving, teamwork, making and maintaining friends and self-advocacy during each activity throughout the quarter. The overall goal of the group will be to allow everyone to have the opportunity to form long lasting relationships while enjoying the great outdoors.
Group does not meet on 12/1
Notes: Parents are welcome to stay in their vehicles while their kid attends the group, but they will need a one-day or annual Discovery pass which can be purchased from https://store.discoverpass.wa.gov/. Parents may not join the group activities or observe the group while in session due to the potential aversive affect it may have on the learners. Furthermore, parents should expect to arrive 5-10 minutes early in order for their child to experience the full group each week. Participants will be encouraged to wear comfortable clothing for engaging in physical movement activities, as well as a snack and water bottle. Other materials may be suggested throughout the course of the quarter as needed but this will be communicated to families in advance.
