This group is run by facilitators of color for students of color with the intention of creating a positive and safe space for participants to build confidence, empower each other, and find a sense of community. As existing socio-political climates shift, this group adapts to meet the evolving and complex social needs that neurodiverse students of color face. While the structure of the group usually includes a social check in, structured and unstructured experiences, and appreciation for group members, the specific activities are tailored to the interests of the group to maximize engagement. The primary goal of this group is to foster positive, joyful and meaningful connections amongst students with a variety of cultures/backgrounds. Group members are often working on skills such as self advocacy, self-awareness and perspective taking. Common activities incorporate imaginative play, crafts, and outdoor/physical activities.
